CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An overnight West Side fire may have been more than it seemed to be, and police are looking into it.
Around 2:15 a.m. Friday, Chicago firefighters responded to an apartment building fire in the 200 block of South Lavergne in the South Austin neighborhood. There were flames on the second and third floors, according to the fire department’s twitter feed.
The 57-year-old woman was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, but, police said, when she got to the hospital, doctors determined she had been shot in the right leg. She eventually died.
Area Four Detectives are investigating.
