A 27-year-old man was hanging out with a friend near Scranton, Pennsylvania when he decided to fry some potatoes.
It was the middle of the night, and authorities don't know if they pair had been drinking, but the events of the evening soon turned violent.
After he was finished frying the potatoes, he offered his friend some who it seems politely declined. This incensed man did not take the rejection well.
Police said he flipped out, threw hot oil in his friend's face, and proceeded to beat him with the frying pan. He hit him so hard, police said, the handle of the frying pan even broke off.
He took off before the police arrived, they said, but he didn't get very far because he ran way without any shoes on.
Thankfully, it sounds like his friend is going to be OK. Doctors treated him for burns and a "significant head injury," but he was alert enough to explain what happened to the cops.
The suspect was eventually apprehended, and according to WBRE, is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment, simple assault, possession of a criminal instrument, and harassment.
