Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz officially welcomed award-winning movie director Guillermo del Toro to Buffalo on Tuesday afternoon.
"As you can all see, work is underway on the set of 'Nightmare Alley', and we are very pleased that City Hall is providing one of the backdrops for this movie that's being filmed," said Brown.

One of the sets Brown is referring to is the fake snow set up in Niagara Square, which may be kind of ironic for Buffalo this time of year.
"I've been taken by how many times American history is made in this city and how thriving it was in many ways in different periods, and how it's now, for me, a city that is resurging and rediscovering itself, and absolutely amazing from an architectural point of view," said del Toro.
Buffalo City Hall will be open during filming, but the front entrance will be closed between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. EST, as visitors are asked to use the South Elmwood entrance.
