Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The list of total recommended church closures has reached 40 following Tuesday night's meeting of the Southern Tier West Vicariate.
The latest recommendations are outlined below:
- St. Anthony in Fredonia
- St. Joseph in Fredonia
- St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Dunkirk
- Blessed Mary Angela in Dunkirk
- Our Lady of Loretto in Falconer
- St. Mary in Cattaraugus
- Holy Spirt in North Collins
- Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Silver Creek to close the St. Rose of Lima site
- St. James in Jamestown closing Our Lady of Victory site
- Sacred Heart in Lakewood closing Panama site
- Holy Apostles in Jamestown closing St. John site
- Christ Our Hope in Clymer closing Sherman site
- St. Dominic in Westfield closing Brocton site
Parishes that were recommended to be closed have until July 15 to make a counter proposal.
Two more meetings will be held this week, including Wednesday night in Genesee and Wyoming counties, and Thursday in Southern Erie County.
