Ellicottville, N.Y. (WBEN) - Even though temperatures across Western New York have started warming up, that doesn't mean the ski and snowboarding season is over just yet.

Dash Hegeman from Holiday Valley ski resort in Ellicottville says by and large, the season has been really good this year.

"We had a really strong December and most of January, and that allowed for some really good snow making to take place," said Hegeman in an interview with WBEN. "I think we've gotten over 170 inches of natural snow so far this year."

There is one more brief blast of winter weather set to impact the region this weekend, with snow still expected to fall through Saturday and into the early parts of Sunday.

The festivities at Holiday Valley are not over yet, though, as the next couple of weekends will bring multiple events to the resort. This includes a Winter Carnival taking place this weekend, as well as the third annual Uppenover Race the following weekend.

"A lot of different activities on and off the slopes, which is always a good time," Hegeman said. "Yodler Snow bar is going to be up-and-running Saturday and Sunday, so hopefully a lot of people come out to that. And then we've got events scheduled for the following weekend, and then hopefully closing things out, event wise, on Saturday the 28th for our annual Pond Skimming event."
