LEVITTOWN (1010 WINS) — A Levittown man was convicted Monday of murdering his wife and injuring his brother-in-law in a 2020 double shooting, the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

Thomas DiNapoli, 70, was arguing with his wife Cheryl DiNapoli in the couple’s bedroom on August 13, 2020, when he shot her in the eye and neck with a 9mm rifle.

The woman’s brother, who was also living at the home, heard the gunshots, entered the room and managed to wrestle the gun away from DiNapoli.

The enraged shooter went to a safe in the garage to get a second weapon, a shotgun that he used to shoot his brother-in-law in the arm with.

Once again, the brother-in-law fought the gun out of DiNapoli’s hands, and police arrested the shooter when they arrived at the house.

A jury convicted DiNapoli of murder, attempted murder and assault.

He faces up to 50 years to life in prison when he’s sentenced on July 27.
