2 dead, 2 critically injured in Thanksgiving Bronx apartment kitchen fire

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two people were killed and two people were critically injured in a fire that broke out on Thanksgiving morning in a Bronx apartment kitchen, according to the FDNY.

The fire broke out on the second floor of an apartment building on Harrison Avenue near West Tremont Avenue in Morris Heights around 5:30 a.m., officials said.

A 20-year-old woman was rushed to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead, and a 60-year-old man died at St. Barnabas Hospital.

A 62-year-old woman and a 63-year-old woman are in critical condition at nearby hospitals.

It took sixty firefighters to get the blaze under control. They did so by around 6:19 a.m., according to the FDNY.

Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire, but authorities said they do not believe it is suspicious.
