1 person killed in upper Manhattan apartment building fire

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A fire in an upper Manhattan apartment building early Sunday left one person dead, FDNY officials said.

The blaze erupted just before 5:50 a.m. on the third floor of 4879 Broadway, a six-story building on 204th Street in Inwood, authorities said.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control around 40 minutes later, according to officials.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated. More details about the victim were not immediately available.
