NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Five NYPD officers were hurt Wednesday night as they captured a man who abducted his girlfriend in Suffolk County and led cops in a pursuit all the way to Brooklyn, according to police and reports.

The man abducted his girlfriend at knifepoint as she walked on Grant Avenue in Brentwood around 8:35 p.m. and then drove her across Long Island in a chase that ended in Dyker Heights, police said.

After getting calls about the abduction from witnesses, Suffolk County police located the suspect’s 1999 Toyota Corolla on the Southern State Parkway, but the driver wouldn't stop, police said.

Suffolk police aviation units followed the Toyota, and the department notified the NYPD as the vehicle headed west through Nassau County and into Queens.

The Toyota eventually exited the Belt Parkway in Dyker Heights, where NYPD cruisers boxed the vehicle in at 12th Avenue and 86th Street.

Three officers were injured in the vehicle collision and two more were hurt during the arrest, police said. They were hospitalized with minor injuries.

The suspect, identified by police as Holmark Garces, 33, of Bay Shore, was taken to a hospital for a laceration to his face. A knife was recovered in the Toyota, WABC reported.

His girlfriend declined medical treatment at the scene and was released, police said.

The NYPD reportedly charged Garces with reckless endangerment, obstructing governmental administration, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle and aggravated unlicensed operator of a motor vehicle. He also faces traffic violations.

Suffolk police said he'll be transferred to the county, where he'll be charged with second-degree kidnapping and first-degree criminal contempt.
