NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 43-year-old man from the Bronx was sentenced to 14 years in prison for a 2019 stabbing spree in which he injured a subway passenger, a police officer and good Samaritan, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced Friday.

Ronald Cundiff stabbed a 55-year-old subway passenger who asked him to move his bag so he could sit on the Manhattan A train on July 30, 2019 around 7:15 p.m.
He got off at the Canal Street station, and the victim flagged down police.
An officer tried to stop him at the corner of Bowery and Canal Street and Cundiff stabbed him in the shoulder. He then stabbed a passer by who tried to help the wounded officer.
“The subway is the backbone of our city, and we will hold accountable anyone who attacks their fellow straphangers,” said Bragg. “Not only did Ronald Cundiff stab a rider who was looking for a seat, he also stabbed a good Samaritan and a police officer who tried to stop him.”
Cundiff was convicted in February by a New York State Supreme Court for assault charges.
He was sentenced to 14 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision.
