The man’s mysterious death had been in the hands of the medical examiner since Sept. 22, when his body was found lying face up on the grass of A Native Meadow, near E. 65th Street and East Drive.

NYPD officers responding to a 911 call from a woman around 8:15 a.m. found the victim with a rope tied around his neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified Friday as Elvis Garcia, a 26-year-old who police said was homeless.

The medical examiner determined Garcia’s death was a homicide.

His death had been considered suspicious at the time; it reportedly wasn't believed to be a suicide, as no trees were near his body.

No arrests have been reported in the killing as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
