NYPD investigating after driver, 24, reports fatal Queens collision days later

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating a fatal collision in Queens that was reported days later when a man walked into a police station, authorities said.

Accordiing to police, a 24-year-old man walked into the 112 Precinct located at 68-40 Austin Street in Forest Hills on January 27, to report a fatal vehicle collision.

The man told officers he was driving at the time of the collision which took place just after midnight on Monday, January 25 in the vicinity of the Grand Central Parkway and Union Turnpike.

An investigation determined that the 24-year old man was driving a 2020 Honda Accord with an 18-year old female passenger that was traveling eastbound on the Grand Central Parkway when they struck the center median.

EMS transported the female passenger to Jamaica Medical Center in stable condition.

Days later on Thursday, January 27, the teen died from her injuries, the NYPD said.

There are no arrests or criminality suspected at this time.

An investigation remains ongoing.
