Driver critical after crashing Jaguar into light pole in the Bronx

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating after a crash in the Bronx left a man in critical condition, authorities said.

Just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, police responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision on the northbound Hutchinson River Parkway in the vicinity of Orchard Beach Road in the Pelham Bay neighborhood.

A preliminary investigation determined that a 35-year-old male operating a 2016 Jaguar sedan struck a light pole and a tree at the location before coming to a stop on the parkway.

EMS transported the driver to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he is listed in critical condition.

EMS also transported the vehicle's passenger, a 26-year-old man, to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition.

The investigation remains ongoing.
