Good Samaritan slashed at NYC subway station while trying to stop robbery: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A woman was slashed in the leg at a Midtown subway station on Monday night while trying to stop a robbery, police said Tuesday.

Around 6 p.m., 33-year-old woman was approached by an unknown man at the 34 Street-Herald Square subway station who knocked her cellphone out of her hand, picked it up and attempted to flee.

A good Samaritan, a 27-year-old woman, then tried to assist the victim and stop the suspect from running away.

Police said that's when the individual struck the 27-year-old woman in the leg with an unknown sharp object, causing a puncture wound.

The assailant then fled the scene, topside.

EMS responded and transported the second victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition. No injuries have been reported to the first victim.
