Antonio Marquez's assault spree began at 10:44 a.m. on Third Avenue and East 78 Street when police said he allegedly threw a bottle at a infant girl, striking her in the head.
The 58-year-old then continued walking and struck a 50-year-old woman in the back of the head and a 71-year-old woman in the head, according to police.
Robert Fitch, the father of the 13-month-old, told the New York Post that he "heard [the bottle] hit her head."
"It was a water bottle or soda bottle," he added. "My wife was pushing the stroller, so I handed her off to my wife. One of the doormen and I confronted the guy and were like, 'What's your deal?' He put up his dukes up and tried to fight me."
Fitch told the Post that several doormen from the area came to his aid and surrounded Marquez, holding him there until police came and arrested him. Marquez has since been charged with assault.
Another doorman, Mike Lombardi, added that the 71-year-old is a cancer survivor "who was coming back from rehab" when she was hit.
Police said she was taken to Cornell Hospital.
