NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — An 81-year-old man was randomly assaulted while walking in the Lower East Side Friday morning, authorities said.

The victim was in the area of Columbia Street and Grand Street when a man approached him and punched him in the face, police said.
Cops said no words were exchanged during the unprovoked attack.

The victim suffered pain and swelling, but he did not require medical attention for his injuries.
