NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man bear hugged, slapped and robbed a woman at a Brooklyn subway station, police said.

The NYPD released images Thursday of the suspect wanted in Saturday morning's attack at the Avenue N station in Mapleton, which police have classified as a sexually motivated robbery.

The 35-year-old victim was refilling her MetroCard when the man came up from behind and hugged her tightly, aggressively squeezing her chest, police said.

She fell to the ground during the assault, causing her iPhone to fall out of her purse.

When she tried to retrieve her phone, the man snatched it away from her and slapped her in the face, police said. He then fled the station.

The victim wasn't seriously injured, according to police, who said she refused medical attention at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
