NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A man delivering food to a Washington Heights apartment building was attacked with a baseball bat and police are searching for the individuals involved.

The incident occured on March 1 at 9:15 p.m. outside of an apartment building at 1365 St. Nicholas Avenue.
Police said the 29-year-old victim was delivering food to the building when he was approached by a group of about eight individuals. One of the attackers struck the victim with a baseball bat while another hit him with a stick. The victim ran inside of the building to safety.

The victim was wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the attack and was able to protect his head from being injured, authorities said.
One of the individuals damaged the victim’s bicycle while it was parked outside of the building before the group fled the scene, officials said.
