
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 44-year-old man died five days after he was thrown to the ground by a hit-and-run bicyclist in Chelsea, police said Tuesday.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 11, the victim was crossing west on West 22nd Street when a bike riding north on Eighth Avenue struck him, sending them both to the ground.
The man then got back on his bike and continued northbound on Eighth Avenue to parts unknown, according to police, who told the Daily News that he was traveling in a group when he slammed into the victim.
Witnesses told the outlet the man suffered a massive head injury.
"He was face up in the middle of the road. He was definitely not moving," Raymond Mina, 58, who works at a nearby deli, told the Daily News. "He was surrounded by a group of bicyclists waiting for him to wake up but he didn't."
Mina said one of the bicyclists then called 911.
EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was pronounced dead on Aug. 16. He has not been identified by police as of Tuesday.
The suspect is described as being around 25 years of age, with brown wavy hair, a medium build and an unknown tattoo on his right forearm. He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, tan shorts and wearing a black bag.
