Douglas Debonet, 32, was driving at Old Town Road and Country Road 83 in Selden around 11:20 a.m. Saturday when he became angered, though it’s unclear why.
Debonet allegedly got into a dispute with another driver, exited his car and broke the driver’s side mirror of the other vehicle before speeding off, Suffolk County police said.
According to cops, Debonet later returned to the other driver’s house and waved a gun in his father’s face before while threatening him.
The officer, who works out of the 110th Precinct in Queens, was charged with criminal mischief and menacing with a weapon, court records show.
Debonet was arraigned in Suffolk First District Court where he was issued an order of protection and released without bail.
An NYPD spokesperson said Debonet, who has been a part of the department for 10 years, has been suspended without pay.
