NYPD traffic agent struck by car while issuing summons in West Village

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An NYPD traffic agent was hit by a car on Friday when the driver took off while the officer was issuing a summons, according to police.

At around 1:35 p.m. on Friday near Carmine and Bedford streets in the West Village, the male driver of a Toyota Rav4 with livery license plates sped away while the agent was working, striking the officer in the process.

The agent suffered a leg injury, but is expected to survive.

Police are investigating the incident.
