NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Three men beat a 43-year-old man on a Manhattan street as they tried to steal his backpack last weekend, leaving the victim clutching his bag and yelling for help, police said.

The NYPD released images of the suspects Friday after the victim was attacked on W. 47th Street, between Eighth and Ninth avenues, in Hell's Kitchen just before 11 p.m. Saturday.
Police said the trio knocked the man to the pavement and then punched and kicked him before trying to steal his backpack.

The victim managed to hold onto his bag and yelled for help, according to police, who said the would-be robbers fled empty-handed down West 47th Street towards Ninth Avenue.
The victim suffered a laceration to his head, police said.
The suspects are believed to be in their late teens or early 20s.
