The NYPD wasn't immediately able to confirm the remains are human, but sources told 1010 WINS it appeared they may be a human leg cut off at the knee with a foot attached.

The remains were found during sewage screening at the the city Department of Environmental Protection’s Hunts Point Water Pollution Control Plant on Ryawa Avenue just before 8:30 a.m.

The medical examiner's office responded and determined it was a human body part, possibly from a child, the sources added.

The office will make a further determination and the investigation is ongoing.
