NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Scooter thieves are targeting women on the Upper West Side, with one woman punched in the face as her phone was snatched out of her hands, police said Thursday.

The NYPD released images video of the two suspects they're searching for in the spree.

The first reported robbery was on the afternoon of June 26, when a 56-year-old woman was targeted as she rode a bicycle at West 63rd Street and Central Park West. Two thieves on a scooter rode up at 4:15 p.m. and snatched the bike's basket, which contained a wallet, police said.

Just 15 minutes later, a 65-year-old woman was walking at West 66th Street and Riverside Boulevard when the same duo rode by on a scooter, grabbed a phone and wallet out of her hands and sped away.

While both victims were uninjured in the first two robberies, the suspects turned violent in the third robbery on June 27, punching a 42-year-old woman in the face around 4:15 p.m. at West 88th Street and West End Avenue, according to police. They then grabbed the phone from her hand and fled on the scooter. The woman declined medical attention.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
