NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man and woman were stopped at LaGuardia Airport in two separate incidents this week for allegedly trying to bring weapons onto their flights.
Lisa Farbstein, a spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration, said the woman was stopped on Sunday at a security checkpoint with a machete in her carry-on.

Farbstein noted that the woman told officers that she “didn’t know it was in her bag.”
“C’mon lady, seriously??!” Farbstein added in a tweet.
The weapon was confiscated, and the woman was issued a summons before being allowed to board her flight.
A man was then stopped early Monday morning with a 10-inch knife at another LaGuardia checkpoint, according to Farbstein.
“Man said it was a gift, but he forgot that he put it in his carry-on bag,” Farbstein wrote in a tweet.
Police also confiscated the man’s weapon and issued him a summons to appear in court.
Farbstein stressed that “weapons are treated seriously at checkpoints.”
The TSA prohibits knives and other sharp weapons from being transported on airplanes in carry-on bags.
