
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is investigating a vandalism incident at a Catholic charity in Brooklyn as a hate crime, officials announced on Tuesday.
Two unidentified people threw a brick through a glass door at a building owned by the Catholic Charities of Brooklyn on Joralemon Street near Court Street in Brooklyn Heights just after midnight on May 2, police said.
The duo reportedly fled into the Borough Hall-Court Street subway station.
Catholic Charities of Brooklyn is part of a network of 90 charities run by the Archdiocese of New York. Much of the charity’s work centers around housing, homelessness and hunger.
Police are asking anyone with information on the vandalism to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Anonymous tips can also be submitted on the Crime Stoppers website or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
