NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A fake cop driving a BMW with Texas plates held up a gas station employee in Brooklyn, police said Tuesday as they released surveillance video of the suspect.

The 39-year-old employee was working at a gas station at Centre Street and Hamilton Avenue in Red Hook on the night of Jan. 30 when a man pulled up to a pump in a blue BMW sedan.
The man pulled a gun on the employee, claimed to be a police officer and then demanded gas for his car, police said.

The employee pumped $70 worth of gas into the BMW, and the cop impersonator fled the station without paying, police said.
No injuries were reported.
Police said the suspect’s vehicle had the temporary Texas tags "21421T9."
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
