NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman shattered a taxi window with a cinder block and fled with a phone and cash in a broad-daylight smash-and-grab in Manhattan, police said.

The NYPD released video Wednesday showing last week’s brazen theft on W. 37th Street, between 9th and 10th avenues, in Hell's Kitchen.

The 58-year-old driver of the cab had parked his vehicle at the location around 10 a.m. Thursday so he could use a restroom.

About 15 minutes later, the woman showed up with the cinder block and smashed the driver-side window of the cab, police said.

She then snatched an iPhone and $40 in cash, according to police.

The bystander video shows the woman carrying the cinder block with two hands down the street. She smashes the window, leans inside the cab and then runs away down the sidewalk with the stolen items, removing an orange wig as she fled.

Police said the driver returned to the cab a short time later and discovered what had happened.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
