Woman struck by stray bullet at gathering at Bronx playground: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are investigating after a 25-year-old woman was struck by a stray bullet at a playground Sunday night in the Bronx, authorities said.

According to officials, at around 9 p.m., the woman was at a gathering at the Half-Nelson Playground located at Nelson Avenue near Featherbed Lane in Morris Heights when the shooting happened.

Authorities said the woman was struck in the shoulder and transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.

Investigators believe that the victim was not the intended target.

There have been no arrests made as of Monday and the NYPD has not publicly identified a suspect.

An investigation remains ongoing.
