NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A woman was hospitalized in critical condition after she was struck by a city sanitation truck Tuesday morning in Brooklyn, officials said.

According to police, the garbage truck hit the 39-year-old woman at around 8:50 a.m. as she was crossing near the corner of 11th Avenue and 73rd Street in the Dyker Heights neighborhood.

Officials rescued the woman after she had become trapped underneath the truck, the NYPD said.

EMS rushed her to Maimonides Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition.

The employee driving the Department of Sanitation truck was also taken to the same hospital for observation, authorities said.

An investigation remains ongoing.
