The 49-year-old victim was getting on an uptown 2 train the 125 Street station at Lenox Avenue around 2:25 a.m. when a man came up and bashed her on the back of the head with an unknown object.

The woman suffered a laceration to her head and was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem in stable condition.

The suspect fled the scene and was still being sought Monday. The NYPD hasn't released images or a description of him.

Police said the attack is being investigated as an unprovoked assault.

Just hours earlier in the Bronx, a man was stabbed to death by a man and woman on an MTA bus—the third transit killing in 10 days.
