SUFFOLK COUNTY, L.I. (WCBS 880) — A 23-year-old man was arrested for kidnapping his girlfriend in Suffolk County and driving to New Jersey, Suffolk County Police said Monday.

The mother of the victim called 911 at 11:20 p.m. after her 20-year-old daughter said her boyfriend, Kenyonne Fleurinay, was holding her in a car against her will, authorities said.
Fleurinay allegedly carried the woman out of a room of an America’s Best Value Inn in Smithtown and forced her into a Chevrolet Impala in the parking lot, police said.
The victim attempted to escape the car after Fleurinay stopped at a gas station in Melville but could not get away, officials said.
Fleurinay then left the gas station and drove to New Jersey but was convinced to return to Long Island by the victim’s family, police said.
A Sixth Precinct Patrol officer spotted the vehicle on the Long Island Expressway and Fleurinay was eventually stopped by police on Middle Island Road in Medford just before 3 a.m. on Monday, authorities said.
The unidentified woman was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Fleurinay was charged with 2nd degree kidnapping and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
The investigation is ongoing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
