HAMLTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Officials in New Jersey charged a fifth-grade teacher for allegedly giving a 13-year-old student with vodka, vape pens and THC drops over a two-and-a-half-year period, according to authorities.

Jennifer Debiec, 39, a teacher at Mercerville Elementary School in Hamilton, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.

According to an affidavit, the boy’s mother learned Debiec had been giving the cannabis items to her son after she took away his cell phone as punishment.

Court papers allege that the boy's mother saw multiple text messages on the teen’s phone "that indicated the victim was provided these items by (Debiec)."

Debiec has been a public employee since 2009.

Anyone with information about the ongoing investigation is asked to contact the prosecutor’s officer at 609- 989-6568.
