SETAUKET, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A razor blade was found inside Halloween candy on Long Island, police said Friday as they urged adults to be on alert and check their kids’ treats.

The blade was found in a mini 3 Musketeers bar opened by a 13-year-old girl in Setauket, according to Suffolk County police.

The girl went trick-or-treating on Halloween and then traded candy she got with her classmates at Paul J. Gelinas Junior High School over the past several days, police said.

She found a blade in the 3 Musketeers bar on Thursday and told her mom, who reported it to police that evening.

It’s unclear if the girl suffered any injuries from the blade.

Police said parents and guardians should make sure they’re present when children open Halloween candy.

They said adults in the area of Setauket and Stony Brook should be especially cautious.

Police asked anyone with information to call the Sixth Precinct Crime Section at 631-854-8626, or to anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
