A part of Bradley Beach at McCabe Avenue in Monmouth County is affected, said mayor Larry Fox.
“It is fenced off, but please avoid the immediate area,” Fox wrote in a newsletter.
According to Fox, the sinkholes are caused by breaches in an outflow pipe near the beachfront.
Though only one large sinkhole was seen on Thursday afternoon, the mayor said Friday that there are several holes in the area.
He added that the borough is working with the Army Corp of Engineers, Department of Environmental Protection, Bradley Beach Office of Emergency Management and Bradley Beach Department of Public Works to work on the issue.
