NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The New York Mets on Thursday released their schedule for the 2021 season.
Unlike in 2020, baseball is expected to begin on time this year, with Opening Day scheduled for April 1 against the Washington Nationals, the first of a three-game series.
While a shortened schedule due to COVID-19 prevented the Mets from facing off against teams from the West and Central divisions last year, the team is expected to play all 162 games this season.
The subway series will also return to normal this season beginning at Yankee Stadium on July 2 through July 4. They will face off again at Citi Field on Sept. 10 through Sept. 12.
The two teams will face off against one another at Citi Field on the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks. This game will mark the second time that both teams will play in New York on Sept. 11, the first being in 2014, when the Mets hosted Washington and the Yankees hosted Tampa Bay.
The regular season closes on Oct. 3 with the last of a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves in Georgia.
All games will be broadcasted on WCBS 880, hosted by Howie Rose and Wayne Randazzo. The television schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
