Minnesota Twins shortstop Andrelton Simmons was placed on the COVID-19 injured list the team announced on Wednesday morning.
Simmons, who signed with the Twins in January, was batting .351 with three doubles and three RBIs in his first ten regular season games.
Twins infielder JT Riddle was called up from the taxi squad which is practicing at CHS Field in St. Paul.
Alex Kirilloff was recalled by the team Wednesday to be the team's 27th man for the Twins doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox.

Kirilloff has yet to make a regular season appearance with the team. His only appearance with the Twins was in Game 2 of the 2020 Wild Card Series. Kirillof became the first player in MLB history to record a postseason hit prior to a regular season one.
