The last two state-run COVID testing sites closed on Sunday.

The site at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport had been conducting COVID testing since February 18, 2021.

Also closing down Sunday was the site in Brooklyn Park, which began operations on October 22nd, 2021.

Other sites closing over the weekend were in St. Paul's Midway area and in Duluth.

The largest testing site in the state, located at the Mall of America in Bloomington, closed on Dec. 30, 2022.

More than 236,000 were administered at that site since it opened nearly two years ago.

"We are extremely grateful for all of the partners, staff and contractors who worked to make these state-run testing sites a cornerstone of Minnesota’s nation-leading response to COVID-19," said Minnesota Commissioner of Health Brooke Cunningham. "Tests will continue to be widely available to Minnesotans from a variety of sources."

The Minnesota Department of Health says COVID testing is still available through state and private sector programs.

That includes free at-home rapid tests and clinic-run locations.
