Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson made an appearance on a podcast to talk about his critics, the state of law enforcement, and what he's battled since his arrest.

Hutchinson is currently on paid medical leave after a drunken-driving crash late last year, a topic he touched on during his appearance on the "Black and Blue" podcast.

Hutchinson spoke about his battles with alcoholism and PTSD after he crashed a county vehicle near Alexandria while driving drunk.

The sheriff touched on the outcry after his crash, saying that he finds it hypocritical that so many who claim to support issues that he has came for his job.

"Where are these people that advocate for mental health? Advocate for chemical dependency? They want to see me burn," Hutchinson said. "Literally, they wish that I would be off the face of the Earth."

He continued, "they wanted me to quit a job that I am getting insurance to see doctors and therapy."

Nonetheless, his job won't be his much longer as Hutchinson is not running for re-election this November. He told the podcast hosts he is not sure he would even want the DFL endorsement now because of how he feels the party has been taken over by activists.
