Some startling stories and statistics from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety about their latest DWI enforcement campaign.

Between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve, 296 law enforcement agencies made more than 2,100 DWI arrests.

24 of those agencies reported drivers with a blood alcohol content of over 0.30 which is nearly four times the legal limit for driving.

“Every arrest represents a crash that didn’t happen, or a dangerous driver stopped before someone was hurt,” said OTS Director Mike Hanson. “I am grateful to the 296 participating law enforcement agencies and the individual officers, deputies and troopers whose work is making a difference and saving lives.”

As for the more notable cases, officials say:

- An impaired driver cut around a school bus with its stop arm extended as kids stood nearby.

- St. Paul police arrested an impaired driver on the runway at Holman Field Airport who didn't know he was on the runway.

- A driver in Spring Lake Park was arrested while returning home from a choir concert with his kids in the car.
