The incentives Minnesota is offering for the unvaccinated will continue at the great Minnesota get-together.
Originally, the state was offering $100 Visa gift cards if you got your first shot between July 30th and August 15th. Then they extended that another week through August 22nd.
Now those same $100 Visa gift cards will be offered to those who get their first dose at the Minnesota State Fair.
The Community Vaccine Clinic is located at the North End Event Center and will be open from 9:00am to 9:00pm daily, and until 8:00pm on Labor Day. Anyone 12 and older can get the shots free of charge.
The organizers have said walk-ins are welcome, or you can make an appointment on the state health department's website.
Currently, Minnesota is at 71% for people with at least one dose of the vaccine and 67% completed. Along with Olmstead County near Rochester, and Cook County in the Arrowhead region, the metro counties have a much higher vaccination rate than many in rural Minnesota. There are still several Minnesota counties well under 50% and MDH is hopeful coming to the State Fair will get more of them to get the vaccine.
Both the Pfizer and the one-dose Johnson and Johnson shots will be offered. Only those receiving their first doses will be eligible for the incentive.
The MDH notes that for your appointment at the fair, you will be required to wear a mask and comply with social distancing requirements.
All you have to provide is your name, date of birth, and home address. You do not need to show an ID or have medical insurance.
