Will President Joe Biden run for a second term in the White House in 2024?

So far, Biden has delayed announcing his decision on whether or not to seek re-election, and top Democrats are reportedly growing uneasy with the uncertainty, according to Politico.

Biden has a history of taking his time launching a Presidential campaign. He was a late entry into the race in 2020 but rose to the forefront in the Democratic primaries in time to earn the nomination.

Previously, Biden’s advisers had discussed the launch of a re-election campaign this month, but lately that timetable has been pushed back to April.

They continue to stress though that Biden has latitude to make such a pivotal decision and that recent events have taken his attention away from any decisions about seeking a second term, most notably his trip last weekend to Kyiv to show America’s support for Ukraine.

However, that lack of a solid decision has left room for some notable Democrats to take the earliest steps involved with launching the huge undertaking of running for the nation’s top governmental job.

The list of what some are calling the Democrats’ “Plan B” includes three high-profile governors – Phil Murphy of New Jersey, Gavin Newsom of California and JB Pritzker of Illinois – as well as Senators Amy Klobuchar and Bernie Sanders, among others.

Still, sources close to Biden told Politico that they believe he is biding his time and waiting for the right moment to announce. And yet, “an inertia has set in,” one Biden confidant told the publication. “It’s not that he won’t run, and the assumption is that he will. But nothing is decided. And it won’t be decided until it is.”
