A moment of silence was held today on the Minnesota Senate floor to honor Nicole Amor, the White Bear Lake native who was one of six U.S. Army Reserve soldiers killed in an attack in Kuwait last week.

State Senator Heather Gustafson shared some remarks.

“Nicole served our nation with courage and dedication, and moments like this remind us of the true cost of service.” says Gustafson, “ Behind every uniform is a family, a spouse waiting at home and children who count the days until a parent returns.”

Gustafson went on to commend Amor for her years of service.

“ She was 39 years old, a mother of two, and like so many in the reserve she balanced family life at home with a commitment to serve something greater than herself,” says Gustafson, “and as her husband shared recently she was almost home.”

The remains of those six service members killed in a drone strike in Kuwait returned to U.S. soil on Sunday.

Among the fallen identified alongside Amor was Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, a 54-year-old from Sacramento, California, who was remembered by his family as a strong leader and devoted father.

Another victim, Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20, was an Eagle Scout and cybersecurity student at Drake University who was posthumously promoted from the rank of specialist.

The strike also claimed the lives of Capt. Cody A. Khork, a patriotic history enthusiast from Florida, Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, a dedicated martial arts instructor from Nebraska, and Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien, a veteran of nearly 15 years from Iowa.
