Louisville Metro Police shared on Tuesday that the gunman who opened fire in one of the city’s banks, killing at least five and injuring several others, purchased his firearm at a local gun dealership six days before the attack.

The news was shared by Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel, the interim police chief for the department. Villaroel noted during the press conference that police have conducted a search of the gunman’s home, but she did not share what was found.

Villaroel also shared that police body camera footage from Monday’s shooting is set to be released sometime this afternoon.

A city official spoke with CNN about the shooting, carried out by 25-year-old Connor Sturgeon. The official shared that the shooting took approximately one minute, and then Sturgeon stopped and waited for police to arrive.

Officials shared that Sturgeon, who worked at the Old National Bank and was allegedly about to be fired, livestreamed the attack on Instagram.

According to police, investigators are still going through the evidence collected from the shooting, including the footage from police and the shooter.

Overall, five people have died as a result of the shooting, one of whom was a police officer shot in the head by Sturgeon.

The official who spoke with CNN shared that the livestream footage starts by showing an AR-15-style weapon followed by a worker in the bank saying good morning to the gunman. In response, he said, “You need to get out of here.”

According to the CNN report, the official noted that the footage goes on to depict the carnage, which lasted around one minute before police arrived, engaged Sturgeon in a fire fight, and inevitably shot and killed him.

The livestream footage has since been removed from Instagram by the social media platform’s parent company Meta.

The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing at this point.
