The sky was falling on The Greg Hill Show Thursday morning, with host Jermaine Wiggins and guest Mike Milbury both advocating for the Bruins to seriously consider trading Patrice Bergeron and/or Brad Marchand and beginning a rebuild.

Making his weekly appearance on Gresh & Keefe, NESN analyst and former Bruins goalie Andrew Raycroft offered some balance, saying that the idea of trading Bergeron is “crazy” and “doesn’t make any sense” to him.

“It’s crazy. It doesn’t make any sense to me. The Bruins are in the playoffs right now on points percentage,” Raycroft said. “Of any of the sports, it’s hockey that we know if you get in, you have a chance. This Patrice Bergeron thing, it should just go away. It really should. It doesn’t make any sense at all. It’s crazy to me.”

Host Rich Keefe then asked Raycroft, who played with Bergeron early in their careers, how the rest of the team would react if the Bruins ever actually did trade their captain.

“I can’t picture it, because it wouldn’t happen. It’s just not happening,” Raycroft said. “…I was looking, and they’re better than Pittsburgh right now in the playoff race. Do you think they’re on Pittsburgh radio talking about trading Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin right now?

“It’s just crazy that this has come up again. When you’re talking about two players that are going to play on the Canadian Olympic team, which is the hardest hockey team to make in the world -- they’re both going to be on it. They’re carrying their team that’s in the playoffs right now, and you want to blow it up. It just seems so unrealistic.”
