The Bruins' 2021-22 regular-season schedule has been released. They will open the season at home on Saturday, Oct. 16 against the Dallas Stars.

The schedule is a return to "normal," with games against every team in the league rather than the regional division format that was used this past season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After not playing the Canadiens for the first time in the nearly 100-year history of the rivalry, Boston and Montreal will renew the rivalry on Nov. 14 at TD Garden in the first of four regular-season meetings.

The Bruins' first of four meetings with the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning will be on Dec. 4 at TD Garden.

The Bruins will face the Toronto Maple Leafs just three times, though, signaling at least some adjustment to the schedule format, possibly necessitated by the addition of a 32nd team in the Seattle Kraken. The first meeting is Nov. 6 in Toronto, while the Leafs' only visit to their own house of horrors that is TD Garden will be on March 29. The B's also end the regular season in Toronto on April 29.

Speaking of the Kraken, the Bruins host the NHL's newest team on Feb. 1 and travel to Seattle on Feb. 24. Those games come on either side of a three-week break in February, set aside for the NHL's return to the Olympics in Beijing, China. While that return has not yet been finalized, it seems things are moving in that direction.

One of the parts of the 2021 schedule that a lot of fans and players did like were two-game series. While there are a few on the Bruins' schedule, it doesn't appear the NHL prioritized that as a big part of the new season. The Bruins have one with the Florida Panthers in October, one with the Columbus Blue Jackets in April, and one with the New York Rangers in April.
