The Bruins are filling a few openings on their staff with familiar faces.

The team announced Friday morning that Chris Kelly is joining Bruce Cassidy's staff as an assistant coach, Adam McQuaid is joining the team as player development coordinator, and Ryan Mougenel is taking over as head coach of the Providence Bruins.

Kelly, who played five and a half seasons with the Bruins and helped them win the Stanley Cup in 2011, had spent the last two years as Boston's player development coordinator. He takes over the assistant coach job that opened up earlier this summer when Jay Pandolfo left the team to take the associate head coach job at Boston University, his alma mater.

McQuaid takes over Kelly's player development coordinator job. The 34-year-old played nine seasons with the Bruins from 2009-18 and, like Kelly, helped them win the Cup in 2011. He last played in an NHL game with Columbus in 2019, when he suffered what would ultimately prove to be a career-ending neck injury. McQuaid officially announced his retirement in January.

Mougenel is a familiar face for the P-Bruins, as he has spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach there. The head coach job opened up when Jay Leach left to become an assistant coach with the Seattle Kraken. This will be Mougenel's first head coach job since he led the Las Vegas Wranglers in the ECHL from 2009-13.
