Jack Edwards had some welcome news to share during Saturday night's Bruins-Coyotes game: He and NESN broadcast partner Andy Brickley are finally going back on the road.

During the second period of Saturday's game, Edwards announced that he and Brickley will be joining the Bruins on their upcoming road trip, which kicks off Tuesday in Chicago and includes stops in Minnesota, Winnipeg and Montreal as well.

These will be the first road games for the Bruins' TV broadcast in two years. Their last one was March 10, 2020, in Philadelphia -- the Bruins' last game before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the season for nearly five months.

Edwards and Brickley have been calling road games off monitors from NESN's Watertown studios ever since, even as many other broadcasts around the NHL returned to the road this season.

Edwards voiced his displeasure with not returning to the road earlier this season, and his frustration has been evident during a number of broadcasts when he hasn't been able to see stuff behind the play or when there have been issues with the video feed.

During the Bruins' most recent road trip, Edwards and Brickley were forced to evacuate the NESN building during the third period of Boston's game in Seattle due to a fire alarm going off. They missed seven minutes of game action, and NESN was forced to switch over to the Kraken broadcast.

Edwards did not say if this is a permanent return to the road, or if there will still be some road games they don't travel for. Here's hoping it's permanent.
