An exciting moment at TD Garden Friday night quickly turned into a scary one. With the crowd going crazy after David Pastrnak gave the Bruins a 3-1 lead over the Hurricanes during the second period of Game 3, an overzealous fan knocked a pane of glass into the Bruins penalty box.

The glass landed right on an off-ice official sitting in the box, causing an injury that quickly quieted the crowd once everyone realized what was happening. Medical personnel and a stretcher were immediately called to the scene.

The NESN broadcast reported that the injured official was timeout coordinator Joe Foley. After a lengthy delay, Foley was helped onto the stretcher and taken off the ice. He was conscious and moving around. Multiple Bruins checked in on him as he was being stretchered off.

Play eventually resumed without the pane of glass being replaced, with security standing between fans and the penalty box instead. The pane of glass was then replaced during the second intermission when there was more time to work.

The Boston Globe's Matt Porter reports that Foley was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons and "seems to be doing OK."
