Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron will remain out for Wednesday night’s Game 2 against the Florida Panthers at TD Garden.

Bergeron skated on his own at Warrior Ice Arena Wednesday morning, but did not join his teammates for morning skate and has not yet been cleared to play in a game.

“He’s progressing well, so he’s day-by-day, but he’s a no for tonight,” Boston coach Jim Montgomery said after morning skate.

Bergeron had been dealing with an illness recently, but Montgomery clarified on Wednesday that it is “not illness” that’s keeping him out. Bergeron left the Bruins’ regular-season finale last Thursday with an upper-body injury, so it would seem that his absence from the first two playoff games may be connected to that. It’s unclear if that injury was something Bergeron was already dealing with, or if it was a new injury suffered that night.

Montgomery said the decision to keep Bergeron out of a second straight game was an “all-inclusive” conversation that included himself, Bergeron and the medical and training staffs.

“I think you always are looking at the situation. Everything goes into our decision-making,” Montgomery said. “Where he’s at is number one. Number two would be, just like the regular season, rest vs. play, where the series is at, all those things. They’re all factors.”

With Bergeron out, the Bruins will roll with the same lineup that won Game 1, which includes Pavel Zacha centering Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk. Linus Ullmark will get a second straight start in net, as will Alex Lyon on the Florida side. The Panthers will be getting a key return, as second-line center Sam Bennett is expected to play his first game since March 20.

Here is the Bruins’ expected Game 2 lineup:

Brad Marchand - Pavel Zacha - Jake DeBrusk
Tyler Bertuzzi - David Krejci- David Pastrnak
Taylor Hall - Charlie Coyle - Trent Frederic
Nick Foligno - Tomas Nosek - Garnet Hathaway

Dmitry Orlov - Charlie McAvoy
Hampus Lindholm - Brandon Carlo
Derek Forbort - Connor Clifton
